    Digital Desk: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for five districts in Assam on Monday for two days due to flood havoc in the state.


    The Regional Meteorological Centre issued a red alert for Monday and Tuesday, predicting heavy (7-11 cm in 24 hours) to very heavy (11-20 cm in 24 hours) rainfall, with extremely heavy rainfall (>20 cm in 24 hours) in the Assam districts of Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa, Barpeta, and Bongaigaon.


    During the same time period, 'heavy to very heavy' rainfall is expected in Dhurbi, South Salmara-Mankachar, Kamrup, Kamrup (Metro), Nalbari, Goalpara, and Dima Hasao districts on Monday, while the same is anticipated in the above-mentioned districts on Tuesday except for Kamrup, Kamrup (Metro), and Dima Hasao.


    For the above-mentioned districts, the RMC has issued an 'orange' alert.


    It should be noted that the state is currently facing a flood-like situation due to continuous rain over the last few days.
