Digital Desk: Assam government on Monday announced that mandatory covid-19 tests at airports, railway stations, and road border points would be withdrawn from Tuesday (February 15). Moreover, the covid test will be withdrawn for patients visiting hospitals for emergency or OPD services.
The notification read, “The mandatory testing on arrival at airports, railway stations, road border points, etc., shall be discontinued. However, symptomatic patients are requested to voluntarily test for Covid for diagnostic purposes at any recognized covid testing facility.”
“The requirement for Covid testing for all patients coming to medical college and hospitals and other hospitals for emergency/OPD care will be phased out. Symptomatic patients, on the other hand, maybe asked to test for covid-19 for diagnostic purposes.” It added.
On Sunday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that from February 15, the state government would remove all covid mandatory testing facilities from airports, railway stations, and hospitals.
“Also, all restrictions including night curfew, social-religious gatherings including other curbs shall stand withdrawn. Detailed notification on February 14.” Assam CM wrote on Twitter.
