announced on Wednesday that it will pay a monthly pension of Rs. 15,000 to
over 300 people who were imprisoned during the Emergency period.

by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Ashok
Singhal said the state government regarded the prisoners jailed during the
Emergency as 'Lok Tantra Senani'.

Cabinet today approved providing monthly pensions to 301 people.""
Each month, they will be paid Rs. 15,000. If the guy dies, his wife will
receive the money, and if both have died, their unmarried daughter will inherit
the money," he explained.
