Assam government decides to give a 2 per cent rebate on purchase of electric vehicles
The move will considerably aid in creating a Green Assam and encourage more people to switch to electric vehicles...

Digital Desk: The Assam cabinet has decided to grant a 2 per cent reduction on the purchase of electronic vehicles till 31st March 2025.

As a result, tax on electric vehicles (EVs) priced between Rs. 10 and Rs. 20 lakh will now be 8% rather than the current 10%.

The move will considerably aid in creating a Green Assam and encourage more people to switch to electric vehicles.

The decision was taken during the weekly cabinet meeting held on Thursday ( Nov 17).

The main goal of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that the Assam government signed earlier in October 2023 with Tata Power EV Charging Solutions Limited (TPEVCSL), a Tata Power Group subsidiary, is to improve the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem in the area.

As a result of this collaboration, Guwahati will see the opening of a reliable and practical EV charging infrastructure. As a trial project, Tata Power will launch this initiative by setting up a network of ten sophisticated EV chargers at key points across the city. Important installations will be positioned thoughtfully in busy places like Dispur.
