Digital Desk: The Gauhati High Court, one of the oldest and most respected institutions of justice in India, is gearing up to celebrate its 75th anniversary on April 5, 2023. The platinum jubilee celebrations will be marked by the presence of the President of India, the Prime Minister of India, and the Chief Justice of India, along with other dignitaries.
The festivities will begin with a felicitation ceremony for senior advocates and retired judicial officers, the registry, and pleader clerks, who have served the court with distinction over the years. This will be followed by the release of the Assamese version of the book "Gauhati High Court: History & Heritage" by the chief minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma.
A commemorative stamp of the Gauhati High Court will also be released on April 5 by the Union Minister of Law & Justice, Kiren Rijiju, to commemorate the occasion. Moreover, a special platinum jubilee edition of the magazine ATMAN will also be released.

On April 6, the Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and Ministry of AYUSH, Sarbananda Sonowal, will release six books on customary laws that will shed light on the customs and traditions of the Rabha, Tiwa, ZemeNaga and Bodos of Assam, the Nyshis of Arunachal Pradesh, and Halams of Tripura. This will be followed by the felicitation of former judges of the Gauhati High Court.
On April 7, the President of India will launch a mobile application called Bhoroxa, which is designed to enhance the safety of women.
The High Court's platinum jubilee will culminate on April 14 with a ceremony witnessed by the Prime Minister of India.
The Gauhati High Court was established in 1948 as a common court for seven northeastern states. After the creation of separate high courts for Manipur, Meghalaya, and Tripura in 2013, it now has jurisdiction over Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram, and Arunachal Pradesh. Its main seat is in Guwahati, with three permanent benches in Kohima, Aizawl, and Itanagar.
The platinum jubilee celebrations of the Gauhati High Court promise to be a memorable event as the institution reflects on its rich history and looks forward to a future filled with promise and possibility.
