Digital Desk: There have been multiple dramatic twists and turns in the death case of Junmoni Rabha, an Assam police Sub-Inspector (SI) who was killed in a deadly road accident on Monday night. The most recent whistleblower is Junmoni's mother, who has accused that the top officers of Nagaon police have "murdered" her daughter as the latter discovered their intentions for a potential criminal conspiracy.
"The SP and DSP....all are all involved in something big, and Junmoni may have learned about their malicious intentions, which is why they killed her!" Junmoni's mother said.
She further claimed that a team of police led by Nagaon SP visited her home on a fateful night and seized Rs 80,000 in addition to a small piece of jewellery. During the raid, she claims a police officer took her phone and turned it off before deleting several contacts and phone numbers.
Junmoni's mother stated that the police had also threatened her not to speak to the media.
The raid was carried out in response to a complaint filed at Lakhimpur Police Station accusing her of being involved in an extortion case.
She stated that the police team had arrived to her home late at night, presumably following the horrific car accident that claimed Junmoni's life.
Further, Junmoni's mother alleged that the deceased cop's post-mortem was conducted without her consent. This raises questions as Junmoni's mother claimed that her daughter had been assaulted with sticks or rods before her untimely death because her body had various signs of injuries.
In light of these inconsistencies, the family of the deceased cop has requested the intervention of Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in what is being termed as a case of "premeditated murder."
Notably, Junmoni was facing an investigation by Assam Police for reportedly extorting Rs 6 lakh from the families of a minor criminal from a district outside her authority.
Reportedly, the accident occurred while Rabha was allegedly attempting to flee a police operation at her home in Nagaon District. She is thought to have travelled casually to Lakhimpur District with a Nagaon Police team, where she was accused of extorting money from a petty criminal. Following that, the accused victim's family filed a First Information Report (FIR), resulting in an ongoing investigation by the Nagaon Police.

Earlier, Hasina Begum, an informant of SI Junmoni who provided information against a fake gold nexus to her, stated that the accident was an intentional murder. Serious complaints have been made by her against the police, claiming that Junmoni Rabha was innocent and the charges brought against her were baseless.
Junmoni Rabha, who was involved in several controversies last year, died in a road accident at Kaliabor, Assam's Nagaon district on Monday night. The vehicle in which Rabha was travelling reportedly collided with an oncoming container truck bearing the registration number 'UP 78UT 4518' near Sarubhagia village on National Highway 37. According to sources, the vehicle was entirely smashed in the crash due to the tremendous impact.
Last year, Rabha, a SI at the Morakolong police station in Nagaon, made headlines for a number of controversies she was reportedly involved in, including corruption, criminal conspiracy, and cheating, for which she was arrested. She was later granted bail by a session court.
Junmoni's death has sparked debate over whether it was murder, suicide, or a tragic accident. As a result, Director General of Police (DGP) GP Singh transferred the case to CID.
According to DGP Singh, a case was filed against Junmoni Rabha at the North Lakhimpur Police Station on May 15, a day before her death, and she was identified as an accused. Both cases, including the FIR filed against Rabha and her unfortunate death, will now be probed by the CID, according to GP Singh.
