Meghalaya Firing: Pressure groups burn effigies of CM, Amit Shah, Himanta to protest unresolved boundary disputes
Amit Shah was cited for saying that all of these boundary conflicts would be settled when India celebrated its 75 years of independence.

Digital Desk: Days after the Mukroh firing, the Pressure groups in Meghalaya under the “Save Hynniewtrep Mission” on Saturday burnt the effigies of Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, Chief Minister, Conrad K. Sangma and Home Minister, Lahkmen Rymbui near the CM’s official residence to protest the failure of the government, the state of Meghalaya, and the government of Assam to resolve the long-standing border dispute.

Speaking to reporters, Roy Kupar Synrem, general secretary of the Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC), recalled that during the NEC plenary session, the Union Home Minister had said that the state governments and the Centre would try to settle all boundary disputes between the various States, particularly in the North Eastern region.

Amit Shah was cited for saying that all of these boundary conflicts would be settled when India celebrated its 75 years of independence.

According to Synrem, the Mukroh shooting incident on November 22 is directly due to the lack of seriousness on the part of the three governments to resolve the boundary dispute.
