Digital Desk: The Mizoram Police has put in place the essential precautions by stationing an appropriate police force in several locations to safeguard the safety of Meiteis residing in Aizawl.
Lallianmawia, the Deputy Inspector General of Police, sent a letter to the Commandant on Friday asking for an appropriate security force in Aizawl.
The letter read, “In anticipation of possible development of tension which could threaten the security of Meiteis living in Aizawl, due to the public outrage against the recent viral video of two tribal Kuki - Zo brutally assaulted in Manipur. Security arrangement is made to ensure the safety of Meitei in Alzawl.”
Security has reportedly been deployed at the College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry in Selesih, the Mizoram University in Tanhril, RIPANS in Zemabawk, and ZMC in Falkawn, per the letter.
Notably, the Peace Accord MNF Returnees' Association (PAMRA) gave Meitei residents of Mizoram a 24-hour deadline to leave the state as soon as possible for their own safety. According to sources, the PAMRA has warned the Meiteis in Mizoram that staying could have serious consequences.
