    Assam Flood: People take shelter on embankments, highways; 45.34 lakh affected 
    In the last 24 hours, floods have affected 91658.49 hectares of cropland and affected 33,03,316 people from 3,510 villages across 28 districts.

    Digital Desk: The flood situation in Assam is still grim as more than 5.3 lakh people are affected in the Nagaon district. Many people took shelter on embankments and highways as several areas in the district continued to remain inundated.

    According to reports, many areas under the Raha circle in Nagaon are still under flood waters and nearly 1.42 lakh people of 155 villages under the circle have been affected by the current wave of floods.

    The children of the district are participating in preschool in the relief camp itself.

    Meanwhile, Integrated Child Development Services supervisor, NP Doley, talking to the media, said, "We’re making children participate in preschool activities in relief camp (Nagaon) itself, with morning prayers, physical exercises, and drawings. Union Min Sarbananda Sonowal visited this camp earlier."

    At least 45.34 lakh people in Assam are still struggling to survive the deluge as the flood situation remains critical in the state.

    The last 24 hours saw the loss of up to 10 lives, taking the total number of casualties to 117. 100 of the 117 fatalities were due to the flood, and 17 were due to the landslide.

    Notably, for surveying the flood inundation and distributing relief supplies to inaccessible locations, two drones have been deployed in Silchar, Cachar district.

    Moreover, Guwahati and Jorhat sent 85.2 MT of GR goods, such as packaged drinking water, grains, and other things, by air to Silchar today.

    The members of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), firefighters, police officers, and AAPDA MITRA volunteers are assisting the district administrations in the rescue effort and delivery of aid.

    According to the official release, "In all affected areas, 717 relief camps and 409 relief distribution centres have formed. These relief camps hold a total of 2,65,788 inmates. The situation developing as a result of the nonstop rain is being closely monitored."
