Assam Floods: 29.8 lakh still impacted; Eight additional Fatalities Reported

As of Thursday, 3,05,565 people were residing in 551 rescue camps and 355 relief distribution centres that were still operational in the impacted districts.

Desk Desk: Assam continues
to be devastated by floods; as of Thursday, it was officially confirmed that
159 people had died as a result of the flooding since April 6.

In addition to the
fatalities, 25 districts, 29,80,493 people, and 76115.55 hectares of cropland
are said to still be under the effects of the floods.

According to ASDMA, eight
people have died in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of fatalities since
April 6, 2022, to 159 (141 from floods and 18 from landslides).

As of Thursday, 3,05,565

The Assam State Disaster
Management Authority (ASDMA) has accelerated the response and recovery services
to the most seriously affected districts in light of the current flood
situation in the State.

Several significant projects
were also started within the past 24 hours.

As part of their planned
field visit to Assam from July 1 to 3, 2022, for damage assessment following
the recent flood in the State, an Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) from
the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) arrived in Guwahati today. They spoke with
senior officials from the Government of Assam, the Indian Army, the National
Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), NHAI,
and FCI.

Members of the IMCT will be
divided into two groups for the purpose of visiting the pertinent impacted
districts in order to expedite an efficient damage assessment.

After the evaluation, on
June 3, 2022, the Team will depart for Delhi.
