Digital Desk: Tensions rise on the Assam-Nagaland border after a firing incident has been reported on Friday night. The incident occurred at a tea garden in the Gabhoru Hills of Mariani. The unfortunate incident has shocked everyone in the region and people are now worried.
According to reports, the people of the nearby area woke up to the sound of firing. Authorities reached the area and started an investigation to find any evidence related to the matter.
A forest official informed that they reached the scene after receiving a call from the locals of the area. They began a search operation in the early hours of Saturday to find any empty shells.
He added that the current situation along the Assam-Nagaland border has been tense, but there is no concrete evidence of the incident.
However, a local man alleged that the firing was done by the Naga people. He said that the people of the area were concerned by the sudden firing incident.
On January 20, a similar situation erupted following the encroachment of land by the Naga people in the Seleng Hat area of Jorhat. The villagers of Seleng Hat said that the Naga people entered the area with several weapons in their hands and threatened the residents. They are continuing illegal encroachment in the nearby villages of Seleng Hat.
Such incidents on the border have been creating panic and tense situations among the people. Many people have lost their lives, livelihoods, and property due to the border disputes.
