Digital Desk: The public sector Numaligarh Refinery (NRL) Limited contributed Rs 2.5 crore to the Assam Chief Minister's Relief Fund to assist the state government's relief efforts in the wake of the state's massive flood devastation.
According to an NRL update issued on Thursday, the cheque was formally handed over to CM Himanta Biswa Sarma by NRL managing director (in-charge) Bhaskar Jyoti Phukan.
The event was attended by Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Rameshwar Teli, NRL Director (Finance) Indranil Mittra, and NRL independent directors Sylvanus Lamare and Sudip Pradhan.
As per an official report, it is a willingness and humble gesture from NRL to assist the state machinery in dealing with the massive destruction and damage caused by the floods, which resulted in the loss of several lives, property destruction, and the eviction of tens of thousands of people from their homes.
The Chief Minister thanked NRL for stepping forward to lend a hand in this time of need.
