Both Tanbir and Masum Ahmed are currently facing scrutiny over their roles in the suspected land scam.
Digital Desk: Today, at dawn, the Chief Minister’s Vigilance Team carried out a raid targeting homes belonging to ACS officers Tanbir Yusuf Ahmed, ALRS, and Masum Ahmed. The raid started around 5:00 AM on Jyoti Prasad Agarwala Road Byelane No. 5 House No. 20, located in Bhetapara Guwahati.
The investigative authorities have started probing Tanbir Yusuf Ahmed and his brother Masum Ahmed because of suspected land scam activities. The Special Monitoring Cell of the CM’s Department heads the operation to investigate claims about illegal wealth accumulation.
The investigators have filed cases with numbers 8/2025 and 9/2025 during their investigation. Ahmed, who had previously served as the Revenue Circle Officer in Bajali, Masum Yusuf Ahmed was suspended from his duties on 25th February, 2025.
The raid and subsequent investigation constitute an initiative that targets illegal finances while protecting accountability within government positions. The two ACS officers Tanbir and Masum Ahmed, now find themselves under investigation because of their suspected involvement in a land scam. More information about this investigation will be disclosed as investigators continue their work.
Tanbir Ahmed joined as a revenue circle officer in Dalgaon, Darrang district in March 2024. However, the officials transferred Ahmed from Dalgaon in December 2024. It became apparent that Ahmed did not want to leave Dalgaon because both he and the local MLA tried to maintain his position. Despite his transfer, Ahmed continued to hold the office of Revenue Circle Officer in Dalgaon for almost a month.
Moreover, allegations have surfaced that Ahmed illegally obtained wealth during his tenure in Dalgaon while obtaining permission to operate his business. Ahmed established strong relationships with the local MLA through which he participated in multiple illegal operations while in position. These allegations suggest that Ahmed's reluctance to leave Dalgaon was likely due to the benefits he derived from his position and connections in the area
In a related development, the CM Vigilance Team also raided the residence of Reetimoni Das, also an ACS officer, a close friend of Tanbir Yusuf Ahmed, residing in Japorigog, Guwahati. Although Reetimoni was not present at the time, the team took her with them and proceeded to raid her rented house in Mangaldai. The raid is currently ongoing.
