Digital Desk: A massive cybercrime ring consisting of five members was arrested in Guwahati. The operation was led by ACP Deepak Das. Rohit Barman, Amir Hussain, Jyoti Das, Joni Rahman and Abdul Rashid Ahmed were arrested. The gang also operated under false identities. Moreover, the gang established bank accounts for innocent victims which became a part of a bigger Delhi-based hacking operation.
The Delhi Cyber Cell provided intelligence that led to the Cyber Cell of the Crime Branch making the arrest of the perpetrators at Noonmati. Multiple victims have accused the gang of defrauding people for a total sum reported to amount to crores.
