Two more people were killed in landslides in the last 24 hours, and a search for two more people who went missing is underway.

Digital Desk: Continuous rain pelted Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday, causing floods and landslides that disrupted connectivity and claimed lives, as per the official's statement.

On Tuesday, a worker at the Hollongi water treatment plant was buried alive by a massive landslide. His body was discovered late at night, according to officials.

A construction worker working on the Trans Arunachal Highway project in West Siang district was buried alive in a landslide near Darla village.

Officials identified the victim as Tilu Kalandi, a native of Laluk in Assam's Lakhimpur district.

The search for two missing people in the Papum Pare district's Huto Village continued. According to district disaster management officer Nima Tashi, NDRF and SDRF personnel are involved in the operation.

The officials stated that 17 people have died due to this year's floods and landslides in Arunachal Pradesh. Six 1448 Bridge Construction Company (BCC) employees were rescued from the flood in the Siang district. However, the overflowing Siang river washed away their camp at Boleng.

Rain and landslides have cut off many areas of the state, most of which are in remote locations.

Landslides have blocked the Chimpu-Hollongi Road in Papum Pare, the Pangin-Boleng Road in Siang, the Boleng-Rumgong Road in West Siang, and the Balemu-Bomdila Road in West Kameng, according to officials.

Many villages and towns in the Papum Pare district's foothills have been cut off. In addition, roads in Tarasso, Balijan, Hollongi, Kakoi, Dirga Dafla, and Borhill have been damaged.

The overflowing Sibo Korong river flooded many villages on its banks in the East Siang districts. The Pagla river's waters have also flooded some areas, including Sibut village. According to officials, the Tebo stream is also overflowing, but no damage has been reported yet.

Several connecting roads in the state capital Itanagar are also closed.

Roads in Abotani Colony, Dokum Doni Colony, ESS Colony, Ajin Colony, and Dariya Hill have been damaged by the rains. In addition, the Pagatara Road and Donyi Polo Road have been impacted. Seven houses were destroyed in the Pagatara area, and a few others were inundated.

Takar Colony and Pachin Colony in nearby Naharlagun are among the affected areas.

The rains have disrupted normal life by affecting drinking water and power supply towers. Agriculture land and horticulture crops have also been impacted in many districts.

Floods have affected over 7,000 people in 52 villages across the state, according to officials.

Reportedly, Due to the rains, all schools and colleges in Itanagar have been closed for three days.

Four temporary relief camps have been established in the city, and residents in vulnerable areas have been asked to relocate to safer areas.
