ULFA-I also stated that Biju Gogoi alias Bhagya Axom was suffering from an inferiority complex and according to a suicide note found inside the camp, he was unable to complete his duties.
Digital Desk: Banned rebel outfit United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I), in a statement today (May 12), said that the ULFA-I did not kill Biju Gogoi alias Bhagya Axom but rather he committed suicide by shooting himself in the head with a gun.
In a press release, ULFA-I refuted all of the allegations levelled against the organisation by a suspected ULFA-I cadre Santosh Lama alias Apu Axom, who was arrested by Tinsukia police Jairampur near the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border on Wednesday. ULFA-I also stated that Biju Gogoi alias Bhagya Axom was suffering from an inferiority complex and according to a suicide note found inside the camp, he was unable to complete his duties.
"On February 21, 2022, between 12 and 3 am, he shot himself in the head with a gun in the camp. Biju Gogoi left a suicide note explaining the reason that he was suffering from inferiority complex," the ULFA-I stated in its statement.
Moreover, the banned outfit also claimed that Santosh Lama alias Apu Axom, an alleged ULFA-I cadre, was never assigned the position of a cadre as he failed to follow the ULFA-I constitution.
Earlier, during a police questioning, Santosh Lama said that Biju Gogoi alias Bhagya Axom, a former All Assam Students' Union (AASU) leader, joined the banned group in January 2020 and was shot to death at the ULFA-I camp in Myanmar in February 2022.
Following Santosh Lama's disclosure, Biju Gogoi's family in Pengri appealed to ULFA-I C-in-C Paresh Baruah to clarify the situation and provide an update on his health situation.
