    The 26-year-old Sumit Nagal, defeated Alexander Bublik with a scoreline of 6-4, 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) that lasted two hours and 38 minutes. 

    Digital Desk: Indian Star Tennis Player Sumit Nagal has performed brilliantly in the first round of the Australian Open. He defeated World No. 27 Alexander Bublik of Kazakhstan in a commanding straight-set match on Tuesday. 

    The 26-year-old Sumit Nagal, defeated Alexander Bublik with a scoreline of 6-4, 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) that lasted two hours and 38 minutes. 

    It was the first time an Indian player defeated a seeded player in the Australian Open since 1989. With his incredible performance, Sumit Nagal became the first Indian man in 35 years at a Grand Slam. 

    Previously, Ramesh Krishna secured a victory by defending World No. 1 Mats Wilander in the Australian Open in 1989.

    This victory marks Sumit’s debut progression to the second round of the Australian Open after being denied wild card entry.
