Digital Desk: Indian spinner Varun Chakravarthy won Player of the Match (POTM) in the third T20I against England for his sensational fifer. The spinner shined with 5 wickets off 24 runs in four overs, breaking Kuldeep Yadav's record for most wickets by an Indian spinner in T20I matches. The mystery spinner also rose to the fifth spot in the ICC T20I rankings, climbing 25 places from his previous position.
Despite Varun's standout bowling performance, England emerged as the winner by 26 runs in the 3rd T20I in Rajkot on Tuesday. His fifer went in vain as India's batting order collapsed while chasing the target of 172 runs. All-rounder Hardik Pandya was the only player who contributed 40 runs to the scoreboard.
Despite the loss, India still leads the series 2-1, with the last two matches set to be played in Pune and Mumbai respectively.
Coming to bat first, visiting team England scored 171/9 with the help of a half-century by Ben Duckett and an important 24 runs by skipper Jos Buttler. However, India failed miserably and could only score 145 runs in 20 overs, losing the match by 26 runs.
Varun Chakravarthy has picked up 10 wickets in three T20I matches against England so far. He also achieved the career-best ranking of 5th position following his heroics in the third match by picking up five wickets.
