Digital Desk: The India team for the 2022 Asia Cup, which will begin on August 27 in the UAE, was announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The squad's first-choice players returned for the tournament.

Virat Kohli and KL Rahul were the two big names that returned to the squad after missing a significant number of T20Is this year. Due to Hardik Pandya's availability, India now has the ability to use four spinners, including Ravichandran Ashwin.

KL Rahul has been selected as vice-captain, succeeding Hardik Pandya, who led India in the fifth T20I in the West Indies and the tour of Ireland.

After a spate of disappointing performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Virat Kohli's position in the team came under scrutiny. After being rested for the home T20I series against South Africa, Kohli was expected to perform well, but the former skipper struggled in England during the Test series and the limited-overs series.

Speculation regarding Kohli's position in the team was rampant when he was not selected for the tour to the West Indies, but the former skipper has been re-inducted into the 15-man squad for the continental competition.

KL Rahul has rejoined the team after missing the England and West Indies tours due to sports hernia surgery and covid-19.

Bumrah was ruled out 

However, India suffered a major setback when Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the Asia Cup owing to a back injury. Mohammed Shami has been left out of the squad for the continental showpiece event.

For their consistent performance in the game's shortest format, Deepak Hooda and Suryakumar Yadav have earned recognition.

Arshdeep Singh, a left-arm pacer, and Ravi Bishnoi, a leg spinner, have both won acclaim for their consistent efforts in white-ball cricket, particularly in the IPL.

India's Asia Cup 2022 campaign will get underway against Pakistan on August 28 in a Group A match in Dubai. The competition will start on August 27 and will conclude on September 11. As previously announced, the Asia Cup will be held in the United Arab Emirates. The tournament was moved out of Sri Lanka due to the ongoing economic crisis.
