Reportedly, Laxman will be filling in for head coach Rahul Dravid, who will be accompanying the Test team to a warm-up match against English county side Leicestershire at the same time as part of preparations for the rescheduled fifth Test against England, which will be played at Edgbaston in Birmingham from July 1 to 5.
The Indian team has a busy summer calendar, beginning with a five-match home T20I series against South Africa from June 9 to 19. On the 26th and 28th of June, they will play Ireland in two T20s matches.
Notably, when Dravid was with the Test team for the series against England, he filled in for former India head coach Ravi Shastri. Dravid was coaching a youthful Indian team on a limited-overs tour in Sri Lanka at the time.
