Chandrayaan-3: ISRO shares first photos of Moon from landing
India made history by being the first nation to land in the southern polar area of the Moon...

Digital Desk: The Vikram lander from Chandrayaan-3's descent on the lunar surface took the first images of the Moon, which were shared by the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) on Wednesday.

"The communication link is established between the Ch-3 Lander and MOX-ISTRAC, Bengaluru," Isro stated in a post on X. Here are images taken during the descent by the Lander Horizontal Velocity Camera.

Chandrayaan-3, an Indian Moon mission, made a successful lunar landing on Wednesday at 6:03 p.m. With this, India made history by being the first nation to land in the southern polar area of the Moon.

In a post on X, the Indian Space Research Organization (Isro) formally announced the landing's success, saying, "'India, I reached my destination and you too!': Chandrayaan-3."

After the United States, Russia, and China, India is now the fourth country in the world to successfully land a rover on the Moon, leaving its mark on the history of lunar exploration.

The Chandrayaan-3 mission's objectives include investigating the Moon's geology, water availability, and possibilities for further human exploration.
