On Tuesday, Ram Janmabhoomi Acharya Satyendra Das told ANI that there will be no'muhurat' during the day, and Raksha Bandhan will begin at 8:04 PM on August 30 and conclude at 11:36 PM on the same date. The "Shubh muhurat" of tying a rakhi this year is merely 3 hours and 30 minutes.
Raksha Bandhan is celebrated every year in India to commemorate the unbreakable relationship between brothers and sisters, which is marked by sisters tying Rakhi to their sibling's wrist. Raksha Bandhan is celebrated on the full moon day of the Shukla Paksha in Shravan Maas (Sawan month), also known as Poornima Tithi.
On this day, sisters apply tilak to their brothers' foreheads after tying Rakhi on their wrists and blessing them for a prosperous and joyful life. In exchange, brothers swear to keep them safe and to love them wholeheartedly. In addition, brothers make their sisters feel unique and cherished by giving them gifts, sweets, and money.
The story behind celebrating Raksha-Bandhan-
The festival of Raksha Bandhan is closely connected to the ancient Mahabharata. According to Hindu tradition, after Lord Krishna cut his finger on the Sudarshan Chakra, Princess Draupadi tore a piece of cloth from her saree and wrapped it over Krishna's injured finger. Lord Krishna was moved by this gesture and deemed the cloth to be a sacred thread.
Also, from that day forward, Lord Krishna pledged to protect Draupadi at all costs, giving existence to the Raksha Bandhan. When Draupadi was in distress and the Kauravas sought to humiliate her, Lord Krishna honoured his word and appeared and defended her when no one from her family stepped out to help her.
Rakhi has taken on symbolic significance in Hindu culture over the years. It highlights the kinship between brothers and sisters.
