Digital Desk: In recent distressing occurrences, two Bengaluru women lost a staggering total of Rs 6.6 lakh to fraudsters. These cases, which happened on August 15, shed light on the city's expanding work-from-home job fraud.
In the first case, a private company's 32-year-old HR manager fell victim to a fraudulent plan. She received a message in Bengaluru's Nandini Layout offering her a remote job. She was given tasks after being told to submit online documents in response to the communication. For every 5,000 rupees she invested, the fraudster promised her a return of 7,000 rupees. She invested a huge Rs 6 lakh because she was taken in by the proposal, only to discover that she had been duped.
In the second case, a 29-year-old housewife who lost Rs 67,000 was involved. She was approached by a woman who offered her a work-from-home job, but it turned out to be a scam.
The victim described her experience thusly: "I was instructed to do 30 reviews for 'I am London Airlines,' for which I was instantly given Rs 1,000. They then gave me additional testimonials and pushed me to deposit Rs 67,000 while promising high returns. I complied, but I couldn't get in touch with them to ask about my money later.
Moreover, a 60-year-old Bengaluru man was the victim of a devastating swindle including a sex scandal in a previous incident. Reena Annamma, 40, and Sneha, 30, deceived this retired state government employee, who lost a whopping Rs 82 lakh. The man, who had been introduced to Annamma by a friend in April, was taken advantage of by both women, resulting in a substantial financial loss. He eventually decided to file a case after spending all of the money in his Provident Fund savings and giving large quantities of money.
