Digital Desk: Expert's quest continues as a Singaporean entomology team, identified a new species of frail cockroach. the species has been named 'Pheromosa', the name was given after a cockroach-like Pokémon that initially appeared in the seventh instalment of the video game series.
Entomologists Foo Maosheng of the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum and Cristian Lucanas of the UPLB Museum of Natural History discovered this after years of in-depth research.
In addition, the couple ensured that the new species was given a different name. Dr. Maosheng explained that they chose to name their discovery after a Pokemon because he is a big fan of the anime series.
“A new delicate epigean Nocticola has been described and also serves as the first record of this genus from Singapore. @IpisLord and I have named it after the #Pokemon Pheromosa, with specimens in @lkcnhm,” reads the caption of the post.
