Digital Desk: A group of stray dogs at the Mumbai airport has now joined the elite group of people who have their own Aadhaar Card badges for identification since Aadhaar cards have become a crucial form of identity for every Indian.

On July 15, a group of 20 stray dogs were given their badges of identification with QR codes to hang around their necks.

The "Aadhaar Card" contained a database with all the dog's details including name, feeder's contact information and information regarding vaccination and sterilization in case the dog goes missing.

A group of regular feeders who tagged 20 stray dogs came up with the innovative idea to provide the canines identity badges. 'pawfriend.in' is a project started by Sion-based engineer Akshay Ridlan that features his invention.

The badges are very helpful, if a pet is lost the QR code tag which includes all of the dog's personal information can be used to assist in helping the dog rejoin its family.

Moreover, the Bombay Municipal Corporation can keep an organized database of stray animals in the city.
