‘This year, private schools cannot increase the fees structure in Punjab’: CM Bhagwant Mann

Mann stated in a video message that education is like a third eye that broadens one’s perspective.

Digital Desk: Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann made two major announcements in the field of education on Wednesday regarding private schools, fees, and books.

Mann announced that no fee hike would be permitted in the admissions to be held for this session. Moreover, no private schools will force the parents to purchase books and dresses from a specific store, and parents will be able to purchase books and dresses at their convenience.

Mann stated in a video message that education is like a third eye that broadens one’s perspective. “However, it saddens me that education is out of reach for the average person. People want to provide basic education for their children, but the high cost is an obstacle,” he said.

On Tuesday, he stated that he was working to free Punjabi University of debt so that it could reclaim its glory as a centre of higher education. “I promise to free Punjabi University from debt so that it can restore its serene glory as a seat of higher learning in northern India,” Mann said.

“All remaining issues with school and college teachers would be solved immediately. Our youth will have ample opportunities to demonstrate their abilities and capabilities in the state, allowing them to become ideal citizens of society,” he continued.

In the Punjab assembly election, the Aam Aadmi Party came to power by winning 92 out of 117 seats in the state. Soon after Mann became the Punjab CM, he first promised to build schools in Punjab similar to those in Delhi. He also stated that 35,000 Group C and D temporary employees will be regularized.

In a tweet, the Punjab chief minister wrote, “We have decided to make 35,000 temporary employees of Group C and D permanent. I have directed Chief Secretary to end such contractual and outsourcing recruitments.”

Mann was sworn in as Punjab’s chief minister on March 16. Since then, he has made significant announcements for the state. First, he announced that he would be accepting applications for 25,000 jobs in Punjab, following which he launched the WhatsApp anti-corruption number.
