Digital Desk: As a result of the cold wave that has gripped the nation's capital, homeless individuals are flocking to night shelters.
On Tuesday, as the national capital's nighttime temperature dropped to 7 degrees Celsius and cold wave and fog blanketed the city, many homeless individuals sought refuge in night shelters.
People have come from different states such as Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. Eighteen beds are installed here. Covid testing is done from time to time here," said the caretaker of the night shelter in Ramlila Maidan.
According to the India Meteorological Department, New Delhi had a temperature of 11.8 degrees Celsius at 2 a.m. on Wednesday.
According to IMD, the minimum temperature at the Safdarjung centre in New Delhi on Tuesday was seven degrees, two degrees below usual.
As per IMD, the minimum temperature in the national capital is expected to remain in the single digits throughout the week, with the exception of Thursday, according to the IMD.
