Hijab Row: RSS Muslim Wing Supports Karnataka Girl

Digital Desk: The Muslim wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has spoken out in support of Bibi Muskan Khan, a Karnataka student who rose to fame during the hijab protest, and stated that hijab, or 'pardah,' is also a part of Indian culture.

Bibi Muskan's request to wear a hijab has been supported by the RSS Muslim wing and criticized the saffron frenzy surrounding her.

"She is a daughter and sister of our community. We are here for her in her hour of need." Anil Singh, Avadh prant sanchalak of Muslim Rashtriya Manch, told reporters.

The Muslim Rashtriya Manch claimed in a statement that Hindu culture teaches to respect women and that those who screamed "Jai Shri Ram" to terrorize the girl were wrong.

The statement reads that every Muslim girl has the constitutional right to wear a hijab and if she breaks the campus dress code, the university has the right to take action against her.

"It is improper for guys to wear saffron scarves and chant 'Jai Shri Ram. They have slandered Hindu culture." the RSS leader said.

"Hijab, or purdah, is an important element of Indian culture, and Hindu women wear purdah as well and Bibi Muskan is in the same boat." Singh added.

"As our sarsangh chalak has stated, Muslims are our siblings, and their DNA is identical. Therefore, I beg Hindus to accept Muslims as their brothers and sisters." Singh appeals to the Hindu community.
