    PM Modi holds meeting with District Magistrates of 40 districts to review COVID vaccination coverage

    New Delhi: To strengthen India’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over a meeting with the District Magistrates of over 40 districts of different states in the country with low vaccination coverage.





    The aim of the meeting was to review the reason behind low COVID vaccination coverage in these districts and improve the same in the coming days.





    Among others, the reviewed districts included the states of Jharkhand, Manipur, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Maharashtra and Meghalaya.





    Along with the District Magistrates, the Chief Ministers of the respective states were also present in the meeting.





    It was conducted virtually through video conferencing. It includes districts that has less than 50 per cent coverage of the first dose of the vaccine and very low coverage of the second dose.

    The Prime Minister took part in the meeting right away after returning from his Europe visit from Rome and Glasgow.





    According to a recent statement form the Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, around 78 per cent of India’s population has been jabbed with the first dose of the vaccine. While around 38 per cent has received the second dose.





    Mandaviya also stated that over 10.34 crore people have taken their second jab after the expiry of the prescribed time interval between the two doses.
