Smriti Irani on a tirade: Congress is the ‘most corrupt political party'

In her maiden election campaign in Assam on Saturday, Union Textiles Minister Smriti Zubin Irani went on a tirade against Congress.

Irani took part in three election rallies in Mariani, Sivasagarand Samaguri constituencies where she campaigned for the party candidates.

Addressing a rally in Sivasagar, Irani accused Congress of being the ‘most corrupt political party’ of India. Irani also stated that Congress has looted the country ’year over year.’

In her address to an election rally in Mariani, Irani went on to list several central and state government schemes by the BJP led government and stated that Narendra Modi led government at the centre was the first to give priority to Assam as a state in the Northeast.

Stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has rolled out several schemes for the benefit of the poor people, Irani appealed to the people of Assam to vote for BJP for continued development in the State.

Taking a dig at Manmohan Singh, who was a Rajya Sabha MP from Assam, without directly taking his name, Irani said, "There are some tall leaders of Congress from Assam and they even became the PM but All India Institue of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) came to Assam only during Narendra Modi’s tenure”.
