    Digital Desk: Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) manifesto for the Uttar Pradesh assembly election has been released today (February 8) by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Lucknow’s Indira Gandhi Pratishthan.

    The manifesto named ‘Lok Kalyan Sankalp Patra’ has been released in the presence of UP CM Yogi Adityanath, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, BJP state chief Swatantra Dev Singh and others.

    Addressing the people, Amit Shah claimed that the BJP had fulfilled more than 92 percent of 212 promises made in its 2017 election manifesto.

    Moreover, Amit shah announced that if BJP returns to power, it will impose a 10-year punishment and a fine of Rs. 1 lakh for those involved in ‘Love Jihad.’

    The major promises made in the Manifesto by BJP are-

    • The party promises to double the amount allocated to landless farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PMKISAN) scheme. The PM-Kisan amount is currently Rs 6,000 per year, which is distributed to beneficiaries in three instalments of Rs 2,000 each. Moreover, Free electricity will also be provided to the farmers.



    • Targeting the female voters in the state, the BJP promises to give scooty to the female voters and working women. Moreover, Female students studying for UPSC and PSC will also receive free coaching.



    • The manifesto also promises to provide laptops to the students in light of the online education system that has emerged due to the covid-19 pandemic. It also promises to provide jobs for the state’s youth and at least one job for every household.



    • The party also promised to provide people with two free cylinders every year during the Holi and Diwali festivals under the Ujjwala Yojna. The scheme provides a free gas connection to the households, with the state government covering the expense.



    • The party promises for the renovation of the Krishna Janambhoomi temple. Moreover, it promises health insurance to the Anganwadi workers under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme.

    • Women above the age of 60 will be able to use public transport for free. Pink toilets for women in the state are also promised in the manifesto. In addition, the pension for old people will be increased to Rs 1,500 per month.

    • Free tablets and smartphones will be provided to the students. The manifesto also promises to launch the Major Dhyan Chand Sports Infrastructure Mission. The mission will supply free sports equipment to athletes.



    • It also promises the appointment of 6,000 doctors and 10,000 paramedical staff in the hospitals of the state. Moreover, seats of the Medical college will be double.


    Amit Shah also announced to set up a Lata Mangeshkar performing arts academy in the state to provide training in cultural arts.

     Notably, the BJP manifesto was supposed to be released on February 7, but it was postponed due to the death of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar.

    The assembly election in Uttar Pradesh will be held in seven stages. On February 10, the first round of voting will take place.
