Reportedly, the 6.1-magnitude earthquake rattled the city of Ya'an in Sichuan, affecting 14,427 people, as per early statistics provided by local media.

As per China Earthquake Networks Center, the epicentre was located at 38.50 degrees north latitude and 97.33 degrees east longitude, 126 kilometres from the city centre and with a depth of 10 kilometres.
