Eknath Shinde will be the next CM of Maharashtra; to take oath today

During the press conference, Shinde stated, "We left MVA for the growth of the state and the MLA constituencies."

Digital Desk: Devendra Fadnavis announced Eknath Shinde as the new chief minister of Maharashtra during a press conference. Reportedly, tonight at 7:30 pm, the rebel Shiv Sena MLA will take the oath of office. Notably, the Maha Vikas Aghadi government's rule in the state came to an end the day after Uddhav Thackeray resigned as chief minister.

After a meeting with Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari at the Raj Bhavan, Fadnavis, at a press conference, said, "I wouldn't be part of the government."

"The Shinde-led government will successfully address several concerns that have lingered for the past two and a half years. The next government's top goals will be providing reservations to Marathas, OBCs, and finishing the infrastructure projects," said Fadnavis.

"Shiv Sena sided with the individuals that Balasaheb Thackeray spent his entire life opposing.  Thackeray government was corrupt, and as a result, two ministers were imprisoned on corruption-related charges," he claimed.

During the press conference, Shinde stated, "We left MVA for the growth of the state and the MLA constituencies."

Earlier in the day, Shinde came to Mumbai from Goa and made his way to Devendra Fadnavis' home. Before heading to the governor's house, the pair had a brief meeting.

Meanwhile,  BJP stated that it supports the 170 MLAs, including those from Shinde's rebel faction. Moreover, in anticipation of Shinde's arrival in the city, the Mumbai police have set up extensive security measures. Roads were cleared so that Shinde's cavalcade could easily get to "Sagar," Fadnavis' official house at Malabar Hill in south Mumbai.

After the Supreme Court cleared the way for a flood test Uddhav Thackeray resigned as the chief minister of Maharashtra on Wednesday night, setting off the frantic political developments. The Shiv Sena, Congress, and NCP Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance, which ruled the state for 31 months, ended with Thackeray's resignation.
