Possible terrorist attacks against Amarnath yatris: Sources

Baloch separatist groups frequently target security forces in Balochistan, which is already a volatile region...

Digital Desk: Intelligence agencies have warned of possible terrorist attacks against Amarnath yatris. Reportedly, a group of five terrorists is believed to entered Jammu and Kashmir from Pakistan or Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) and is preparing for a grenade attack on pilgrims on the road that connects Batapora and Sonamarg. Security personnel were informed due to prior reports that were similar to this one.

There are also reports that the ISI, a Pakistani intelligence agency that engages in cross-border terrorism, has directed Lashkar-e-Taiba or the smaller Jaish-e-Mohammed to target informers and Jammu and Kashmir Police officials. Recently, there have been attacks on police officers in J&K, including junior officers on leave in their villages.

The orders were issued after the Jammu and Kashmir government decided to seize the property of extremist leaders and supporters. Additionally, it was decided to close schools in J&K that were getting funds from terrorist organisations.

Baloch-TTP alliance: While Pakistan continues to incite unrest in Jammu and Kashmir, other parts of the nation, particularly Balochistan and the North-West Frontier Province, are experiencing a worsening law and order situation.

Moreover, there are now rumours that Baloch leaders headed by Mullah Aslam Baloch have decided to back the TTP or Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan. The agreement, which would result in resource sharing, can potentially exacerbate the situation in both severely afflicted regions.
