Digital Desk: Myntra, the fashion retail division of Flipkart, has said that it
will grow its workforce by up to 16,000 workers, both directly and indirectly,
in order to meet the increased demand of the Diwali holiday season. The
distribution, logistics, warehouse handling, and customer support functions
will be the main emphasis of these employment.
The number of workers will increase by over 6,300 to help with first- and
middle-mile operations, and another 3,000+ will be employed for last-mile
deliveries. Out of this, the firm has promised to engage 2,500 women and 300
people with disabilities, especially for work in the key hubs of Bengaluru,
Mumbai, Delhi, and Kolkata in the areas of sorting, grading, and packaging.
Myntra's chief human resources officer, Nupur Nagpal, stated: "After being
celebrated in small groups for over two years, the holiday is likely to be
observed in all its splendour this year. We are working nonstop to meet the
tremendous demand from our clients who are anxiously anticipating to purchase
on Myntra for their holiday necessities."
On the first day of its flagship bi-annual "End of Reason Sale"
(EORS), which ran from June 11 to June 16, this year, Myntra sold 50 lakh
products. 2.6 million goods were dispatched by the store in the first day of
the sale. In comparison to usual days, the online merchant recorded a 70%
increase in traffic during the event.
In addition, the fashion platform has established 27,500 chances for
third-party employment before to the EORS sale season in June of this year.
For its new corporate headquarters, this Flipkart-owned business leased 300,000
square feet from managed workspace provider IndiQube near Bengaluru's Outer
Ring Road.
