Assam govt issues guidelines on reduction of weight of school bags in state
The education department of the state has established weight restrictions for school bags in various classrooms.

Digital Desk: The state government of Assam has announced a notification that will significantly reduce the load of heavy school bags for kids beginning with the 2024–2025 academic year.

The education department of the state has established weight restrictions for school bags in various classrooms.

The maximum weight that students in Classes 1 and 2 are permitted to have in their school bags is 1.5 to 2 kilograms. Students in Classes 3 to 5 are allowed to carry 2 to 3 kilograms of bags. In the same way, the weight restriction is raised to 3–4 kg for kids in Classes 6–8. Lastly, the maximum weight that children in Classes 9 and 10 are allowed to have in their school bags is 5 kilograms.

The decision to reduce the weight of school bags is a result of careful consideration for the physical and emotional health of the students. According to reports, the government's action attempts to calm worries about the detrimental effects that large baggage has on students' physical and mental well-being.

The government hopes to encourage a more pleasant and conducive learning environment for students in all grades by enforcing these weight restrictions.
