Digital Desk: The flood situation in Assam remained grim in several parts of the state on June 2, with water levels of Brahmaputra, Barak rivers and their tributaries continuously increasing amid heavy rainfall and water flowing down the low-lying areas.

Indian Meteorological Department's Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Guwahati has issued moderate rainfall in most places of Assam, while heavy to very heavy rainfall in a few places, and extremely heavy rainfall in isolated places.
RMC added that Cachar is the worst-affected district of Assam with more than one lakh people affected. Cachar is followed by Sribhumi with 85,000 and Nagaon with 62,000 flood-affected people.
On Sunday night, two people, including a child, died due to floods in Sribhumi, bringing the death toll to 34 in the northeast.
A total of 155 relief camps have been operating in 15 districts, taking care of all the displaced people.
The authorities have distributed essential relief materials to the flood-hit people.
The flood waters have destroyed several embankments, roads, bridges, and other infrastructure across the state.
