Digital Desk: The Supreme Court on Friday stayed the proceedings before different High Courts against the makers of the film. The Supreme Court also issued a notice on an appeal filed by the makers of the film against an Allahabad High Court order, asking them to appear before it on July 27. The film, a retelling of the epic Ramayana, has been criticized for its dialogue and usage of colloquial language.

Reportedly, the top court also denied a PIL seeking to remove the film's CBFC certificate for public exhibiting for allegedly hurting religious sentiments.

Meanwhile, on June 30, the Allahabad High Court summoned the director Om Raut, producer Bhushan Kumar, and dialogue writer Manoj Muntashir to appear on July 27 and directed the central government to constitute a committee to provide feedback on the film. It was hearing a separate petition from Kuldeep Tiwari and Naveen Dhawan seeking a ban on the film.

It has also directed the central government to form a five-member committee to assess if the film offended the public's sentiments. In its order, it also directed the government to reconsider the decision to issue the film a certificate. The high court stated that the secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) will file personal affidavits informing it whether the guidelines for film certification for public exhibition were followed in letter and spirit.

    About Adipurush

Inspired by the Hindu mythological epic Ramayan, the film carries forward Lord Ram's virtues of Dharma, Courage, and Sacrifice, as reflected in the exquisite poster. Adipurush stars Prabhas as Raghav, Kriti Sanon as Janaki, and Saif Ali Khan as Ravan. Sunny Singh and Devdatta Nage are in the supporting cast. The film faced an outright rejection from the audience for making a mockery of the ancient Indian epic Ramayana. It was also the subject of various controversies about its language and visual effects. Many Hindu organizations have called for a ban.

Adipurush, produced by Bhushan Kumar, Om Raut, Rajesh Nair, and Prasad Sutar, also starred Vatsal Seth as Indrajit, Siddhant Karnick as Vibhishana, Sonal Chauhan as Mandodari, Krishna Kotian as Dashratha, and Trupti Todarmal as Sarama.
