Digital Desk: The megastar Amitabh Bachchan dismissed the rumors that he was hospitalized on Friday by dismissing claims of ill health as "fake news".

Early in the day, several stories claiming that Bachchan had undergone an angioplasty operation for either a leg clot or a clogged artery caused fans to panic and take to social media to ask about the megastar's health.

The Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) final between Majhi Mumbai vs. Tiigers of Kolkata was being attended by Amitabh Bachchan and his son Abhishek at Dadoji Kondadev Stadium in Thane in the evening, hours after rumors of his hospital visit began to circulate.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, Bachchan is seen leaving the stadium when a fan inquires about his health. At first, the actor is seen making hand gestures to indicate that everything is alright.

Then the other individual enquired, "How are you? Everything alright? Bachchan said, "Fake news."

Some of the reports that surfaced in the afternoon said he had gone to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital for a standard examination. According to others, he was admitted to the hospital for an angioplasty, a balloon technique used to clear clogged blood vessels and arteries, in order to remove a blockage in his leg. Additionally, some people claimed that he underwent an angioplasty to clear a blocked artery.

But for most of the day, neither his office nor the hospital could provide any confirmation.

Also trending on X were #Kokilaben Hospital and #Amitabh Bachchan, despite the reports not being able to be independently verified.

Sanjay Nirupam, the leader of the Congress, was one of the writers. “Praying for Amitabh Bachchan’s speedy recovery. #AmitabhBachchan," he posted on X.

Many others wrote to wish him a speedy recovery and to know that they were praying for his well-being.

The last time fans saw Amitabh Bachchan was in a cameo in Tiger Shroff's film "Ganapath." "Kalki AD 2898," starring Deepika Padukone and Prabhas, is one of his forthcoming movies. In the Tamil movie "Vettaiyan," he will also be starring with Rajinikanth.
