actor Richa Chadha turned out to be the first in the industry to post about the ongoing Manipur violence matter.
Taking to Twitter, the actor referenced another remark by Bijou Thaanjam and said, "Manipur is burning".
Netizens praised the Gangs of Wasseypur actress while criticising other Bollywood actors for remaining silent.
"Thank you for speaking out. This must build to a crescendo of voices expressing outrage at the injustices that have been ingrained in the social order. Your voice must be amplified," one user commented on Twitter.
Linthoingambi Lin Laishram, a model, actress, and businesswoman from
Manipur, was quoted a few days earlier as being frightened about the outbreak of violence in her native state and feeling powerless. She argues that people are having difficulty obtaining necessities like water, and she challenges Bollywood's silence on the topic.
"Bollywood and cricket rule India. People applauded when Mirabai Chanu or Mary Kom won a medal for the country. What happened to these people? Nobody cares about us when it comes to speaking on our behalf. They'd rather speak about something else, whether it's occurring in Delhi or elsewhere in India. However, they are unconcerned about what is happening in another state of our country," reportedly says the actor, who has appeared in films such as Om Shanti Om, Mary Kom, and Rangoon.
