Digital Desk: Vivek Oberoi has been charged with financial fraud. The actor and his wife, Priyanka Alva Oberoi, have filed a police report against three of Vivek's business associates, alleging that they cheated the actor of Rs 1.55 crore.

According to reports, the three accused promised Vivek huge rewards, prompting the actor to invest in an event and film production firm. The money was wrongfully exploited by the alleged fraudsters for their own profit. The police have now begun their investigation into the matter, looking for more information on the fraud case.

Oberoi Mega Entertainment LLP, Vivek Oberoi's company, appointed Deven Bafna, an accredited chartered accountant, to file the police complaint on his behalf. Nandita Saha, her son Sanjay Saha, and Radhika Nanda, who are members of Anandita Entertainment LLP, are among the accused business partners.

Deven Bafna told police that his client Vivek Oberoi and the other parties involved were going to create a firm to organise film production and business-related activities.

Deven Bafna stated in a police statement that Vivek Oberoi and his wife Priyanka founded Oberoi Organics in 2017. The corporation specialises in the production, purchase, and sale of organically produced goods.

However, when their firm began to suffer as a result of decreased demand for organic products, the Oberois decided to collaborate with Sanjay Saha. "They (Oberois) decided to... dissolve that business (Oberoi Organics) and convert it into an events business under the name Anandita Entertainment," Deven Bafna explained, adding that the two sides reached an agreement in July 2020.

According to the police complaint, Vivek Oberoi decided to transfer his ownership interest to Oberoi Mega Entertainment, a different business he owned, a few months later. Sanjay Saha and another person he knew, Radhika Nanda, were assigned to oversee the joint venture's day-to-day activities.

Vivek Oberoi discovered the financial mismanagement in April 2022. Not only had Radhika Nanda illegally stolen funds from the company, but "Sanjay Saha had used the company's money for various personal reasons, including paying his mother's life insurance premium," according to the statement. According to the account statements, Vivek Oberoi confronted his business partners after withdrawing over Rs 58 lakh.

Sanjay Saha, his mother Nandita, and Radhika were detained, according to a police officer, after Vivek Oberoi's agency filed a complaint. They were accused of breaking Sections 406 of the Indian Penal Code (criminal breach of trust), 409 of the same code (criminal breach of trust by a public officer, banker, merchant, or agent), 420 of the code (cheating), and 34 of the code (common intention).
