On Monday, Dhanush took to his Twitter and announced the news of their separation with a short, crisp note. The post read a lovely note describing their journey and ended with a positive note. Moreover, the actor asked his well-wishers and fans to respect their privacy.

The post on Twitter read, "Today we stand at a place where our paths separate… So Aishwaryaa and I have decided to part ways as a couple and take time to understand us as individuals for the better."

The duo had tied the knot in a classic South Indian tradition on November 18, 2004. They are proud to be the parents of two sons.
His wife Aishwaryaa, is the elder daughter of veteran actor Rajinikanth. Aishwaryaa also took to her Twitter and shared the same post on her Instagram handle. She wrote in the post, "No caption needed…only your understanding n your love necessary!"
After such long years of togetherness, this separation news has disheartened many of his fans. One of the users wrote," "I can't believe it heartbreaking." However, others respected their decision as individuals and wished them the strength to go through this phase.
On the work front, Dhanush was lately seen in Aanand L Rai's 'Atrangi Re', opposite Sara Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar. The movie has further gained much praise from fans.
Moreover, the actor will be next seen in a Telugu movie with the bilingual film 'Sir' ('Vaathi' in Tamil). Apart from Dhanush, the film also stars actor Samyuktha Menon. Composed and directed by Venky Atluri, the film is produced by Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya.
Besides, Aishwaryaa also made her directorial debut with the movie '3' that included actor Dhanush and Shruti Haasan in the lead roles.
