Digital Desk: Kangana Ranaut's much-anticipated directorial debut, "Emergency," which was initially slated for release in October and later pushed to November 24, 2023, has faced yet another delay. The political drama will now hit theaters in 2024, with a new release date to be announced soon.
The film stars Kangana Ranaut in the lead role, portraying the character of India's first woman Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi. "Emergency" has been generating significant buzz ever since its teaser was released, drawing praise from fans and the film industry alike.
Kangana Ranaut took to her social media platform "X" on Monday to announce the postponement, citing a 'jam-packed' schedule in the last quarter of 2023. She expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming response to the film's teaser, saying, "Dear friends, I have an important announcement to make, Emergency movie is the culmination of my entire life’s learnings and earnings as an artist. Emergency is not just a film for me it’s a test of my worth and character as an individual. The tremendous response that our teaser and other units got from everyone encouraged us all. My heart is full of gratitude and wherever I go people ask me about Emergency’s release date (sic)."
''We have announced the Emergency release date as 24th November 2023 but because of all the changes in my back-to-back releasing films calendar and over-packed last quarter of 2024, we have decided to shift Emergency to next year (2024). A new release date will be announced soon, please bear with us, your anticipation, curiosity and excitement for the film means a lot. Yours truly Kangana Ranaut (sic)," Kangana Ranaut added in her post.
Apart from Kangana Ranaut, "Emergency" boasts a stellar cast, including Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhry, Vishak Nair, and Shreyas Talpade. The film's script has been penned by Ritesh Shah, and Kangana Ranaut herself directs the film.
Meanwhile, Kangana is gearing up for her upcoming release, "Tejas," where she takes on the role of Indian Air Force pilot Tejas Gill. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on October 24, 2023, and features Anshul Chauhan, Anuj Khurana, Varun Mitra, Veenah Naair, Mirko Quani, and Rohed Khan alongside the talented actress.
Fans and the film industry eagerly await the announcement of the new release date for "Emergency," with hopes that the film will live up to the tremendous expectations it has garnered so far.
