Digital Desk: Mumbai Police reported on Wednesday that a man has been arrested for threatening TV actress Uorfi Javed with rape and death. The man, Naveen Giri, was taken into custody by Goregaon Police after an FIR was filed under sections 354(A) (sexual harassment), 354(D) (stalking), 509, 506 (criminal intimidation), and IT Act. The social media influencer received threatening messages from Naveen over WhatsApp. Author Chetan Bhagat made a controversial statement about the Daayan actor at a literary event, and earlier, Javed had lashed him with all of her might.
"Youth, especially boys, have found their phones to be a great source of distraction, spending hours simply scrolling through Instagram Reels. Everyone is familiar with Uorfi Javed. How will you use her pictures? Is it coming in your exams or you will go for a job interview and tell the interviewer that you know all her outfits?" stated Bhagat. He added, "On one side, we have a youth that is protecting our country at Kargil, while on the other side, we have another young who is watching Uorfi Javed's photographs hiding in their blankets."
Uorfi posted the following in her Instagram stories: "Men like him will always blame the women than accept their shortcomings. Stop promoting rape culture you sickos out there. Blaming women’s clothes for the behaviour of men is so 80s Mr Chetan Bhagat".’
She also posted screenshots of purportedly leaked WhatsApp chats from Bhagat from the 2018 Me Too movement.
The Bepannaah actor was most recently seen in the reality series MTV Splitsvilla (season 14).
