Digital Desk: Miss Universe finalist and Australian fashion model Sienna Weir died at the age of 23 in a tragic horse-riding accident. The model was injured last month while riding a horse in her native Australia.

According to reports, Weir was riding at the Windsor Polo Grounds in Australia on April 2 when her horse fell. She was reportedly placed on life support for several weeks owing to her injuries before being removed on Thursday (May 4).

Her family announced her death and stated that they had decided to take her off life support.

Her modelling agency, Scoop Management, also announced her death and shared several images of her on Instagram on Thursday. ''Forever in our hearts,'' the caption read.

Notably, Sienna Weir was one of the 27 finalists in the 2022 Australian Miss Universe competition. She earned a dual degree in English literature and psychology from Sydney University. She earlier stated to local media that she intended to go to the United Kingdom to continue her career and ''spend more time with her sister, niece, and nephew, as well as to develop both her professional and social network.''

The Australian fitness model had a lifelong desire for horseback riding. ''Although I've spent most of my life in the city, I have a deep and immovable love for show jumping. I've been riding horses since I was three years old, and I can't image my life without it. My family isn't quite sure where this enthusiasm originated from. Every other weekend, I fly to outside Sydney to train and participate in New South Wales or elsewhere in Australia," she said to Gold Coast Magazine.

Meanwhile, social media was flooded with tributes from friends, family, and colleagues in the modeling world, with many expressing their grief. "You were one of the kindest souls in the world, you lit up the room and the world is a lot darker now that you are gone," Australian photographer Chris Dwyer wrote.
