Digital Desk: The much-awaited return of the Korean drama “Squid Game” is confirmed, with Season 2 set to debut on December 26, just after Christmas. Netflix announced via its official Instagram account, revealing that the series will conclude with a final Season 3 scheduled for release in 2025.
The announcement was accompanied by a teaser featuring a new cohort of contestants plunged into a high-stakes game. The visuals showcase participants navigating a perilous running track under the watchful eyes of ominous figures in red and black, heightening anticipation for the new season. This follow-up arrives over three years after the global sensation of the first season, which premiered in 2021.
Director, writer, and executive producer Hwang Dong-hyuk shared his excitement about the new season. “It’s been nearly three years since Season 1 received an extraordinary response globally and brought about numerous unforeseen events. I am thrilled to announce the release date for Season 2 and share the news that Season 3 will be the final season,” Hwang stated.
The second season will introduce new cast members including Park Gyu-young, Jo Yu-ri, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Lee Jin-uk, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae Won, and Won Ji-an. Returning stars include Lee Jung-Jae, who, along with Hwang Dong-hyuk, won Emmys for their work on the first season. Hwang will continue as executive producer, joined by Kim Ji-yeon.
