'Pathaan' Row: Censor Board recommends Changes in Film, Songs

One of its songs, 'Besharam Rang,' sparked outrage due to Deepika Padukone's orange bikini.

Digital Desk: The Central Board of
Film Certification (CBFC) has asked the producers of Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika
Padukone's upcoming film 'Pathaan' to make adjustments to the film, including
the songs, and submit a revised version, according to chairperson Prasoon
    Joshi.

committee for certification and underwent a rigorous evaluation in accordance
    with the board's criteria.

Abraham, is set to hit theatres in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu in January 2023.

    One of its songs,
'Besharam Rang,' sparked outrage due to Deepika Padukone's orange bikini.

color:#2E2E2E">"Pathaan passed through the appropriate and thorough
examining process as per the CBFC standards," CBFC chairperson Prasoon
Joshi said. The committee has directed the filmmakers to make the recommended
adjustments to the picture, including the songs, and to submit the corrected
version prior to its theatrical release.

    Mr Joshi stated,
"CBFC is always committed to finding the correct balance between creative
expression and audience sensibility, and we think that we can always find a
solution through meaningful communication amongst all stakeholders."

color:#2E2E2E">"While the procedure is being followed and applied, I must
emphasise that our culture and faith are magnificent, intricate, and subtle.
And we must be careful that it is not defined by trivialities that divert
attention away from the genuine and true. And, as I have stated, the trust
between artists and audiences is critical to preserve, and creators should
    continue to work toward it."

    On December 12, the
film's single 'Besharam Rang' was released online, and it quickly became the
buzz of the town. While many people enjoyed the upbeat song, others found it
offensive due to the use of saffron and green costumes. A slew of activists in
Indore even staged a protest and set effigies of Deepika and Shah Rukh on fire.

    Speaking
to the media a few days after the release of the song 'Besharam Rang,' Madhya
Pradesh minister Narottam Mishra protested to the use of saffron costumes in
the song. He claimed the film had some offensive elements and vowed to ban
Pathaan in Madhya Pradesh unless those sections were altered.

color:#2E2E2E">"At first impression, the outfits in the song are
repulsive. It is apparent that the song from the film 'Pathaan' was shot with a
    nasty mindset."

    Meanwhile, Yash Raj
Films just released the film's second song, 'Jhoome Jo Pathaan,' which drew a
    huge response from fans.
