The Kerala Story will no longer be shown in Tamil Nadu multiplex theatres from today

The film's producer told the Kerala High Court that the contentious preview will not be shown again on their social media accounts.

    Digital Desk: The
screenings of The Kerala Story in Tamil Nadu have been discontinued as of
today, blaming the law and order situation as well as the film's negative
    reception.

    The Tamil Nadu Naam
Tamilar Katchi (NTK) protested the release of 'The Kerala Story' in Chennai on
Saturday. The Naam Tamilar Party cadres, led by its organizer, actor and
director Seeman, began protesting the film in the Chennai Anna Nagar Arch near
    Skywalk Mall.

    Following Seeman's call to
protest, NTK cadres staged an inside-the-theater demonstration against the
screening of The Kerala Story and were later detained by police.

    Party members waved the
Naam Thamizhar Katchi banner and sang anti-movie slogans. Seeman also requested
that the film 'The Kerala Story' not be shown in theatres and advised people
not to watch it, according to ANI.

    Seeman has previously
announced protests, stating that The Kerala Story is anti-Muslim and demanding
that the Puducherry and Tamil Nadu governments prohibit its broadcast.

    After the trailer for 'The
Kerala Story' was released, a scandal ensued since it claimed that 32,000 girls
from the state went missing and ultimately joined the terrorist outfit, ISIS.
However, the Kerala High Court refused to stay the distribution of the
multilingual film 'The Kerala Story' on Friday, stating that the trailer
contains nothing objectionable to any particular community as a whole.

    The film's producer told
the Kerala High Court that the contentious preview will not be shown again on
    their social media accounts.

    The film 'The Kerala
Story,' starring Adah Sharma, was launched in theatres on Friday and is
described as "unearthing" the events that led to "approximately
32,000 women" going missing in Kerala.

    The video, according to
the CPI(M) and the Kerala Congress, wrongly alleges that 32,000 women were
converted and radicalized before being deployed in terror missions in India and
around the world. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan recently stated in a
statement that the film was prepared with the intention of causing communal
divisiveness and spreading hate propaganda against Kerala.

    The Kerala Story
screenings were cancelled in various Kerala districts on the day of its
premiere. Two previously scheduled shows in Kochi have been cancelled. The
movie was also boycotted by theatre owners at Kochi's Lulu Mall and Centre
Square Mall. Similarly, theatres in the districts of Kollam, Pathanamthitta,
Kottayam, Idukki, Kannur, and Wayanad opted not to show the film.

    Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced on Saturday that 'The Kerala Story'
would be tax-free in the state, a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi
credited the film with bringing out terror conspiracies and using it to attack
the Congress during a rally in Karnataka.
