Vipul Shah, the producer of The Kerala Story, announced that they will file a legal action to challenge the Trinamool Congress' decision to censor the film.

Digital Desk: Vivek Agnihotri is well-known for expressing his strong thoughts on various topics and is highly active on social media. The filmmaker had warned the crew of The Kerala Story's cast and crew that they would face "unimaginable hate" while praising Sudipto Sen's film, and now the filmmaker has criticised Mamata Banerjee for saying that for stating that The Kashmir Files is a film to humiliate one section of society.

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee questioned, "What is 'The Kashmir Files'? during a press conference at the state secretariat in Howrah. To degrade a certain group. The Kerala Story: What is it?The Kerala Story, which the BJP is presenting, is twisted. A few days ago, some celebrities who were supported by the BJP visited Bengal, and they are now putting together Bengal Files using a fabricated and twisted narrative."

In response to her statement, Vivek Agnihotri stated that he is considering filing a defamation case against Mamata Banerjee.

The filmmaker took to his Twitter and wrote, “VERY IMPORTANT: In this video, I guess, @MamataOfficial didi is talking about me. Yes, I came to Bengal to interview survivors of the Direct Action Day genocide instigated by Khilafat. And the role of Gopal Patha. Why are you scared? #TheKashmirFiles was about Genocide and terrorism. On what basis do you think it was to defame the Kashmiri people? On what basis do you say so maliciously that it is funded by a political party? Why shouldn’t I file a defamation case and a case of Genocide Denial against you? Btw, the film is called #TheDelhiFiles, not Bengal Files. And nobody can silence me.”

The Kerala Story was first banned in West Bengal. According to a West Bengal government official who spoke to PTI, "The CM has imposed an immediate ban on screening of 'The Kerala Story' to avoid any incidents of hatred and violence and to maintain calm in the state. Any theatre that violates the ban will face consequences.

Sudipto Sen's The Kerala Story, meantime, tells the tale of three girls who were converted to Islam by ISIS. Starring Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Siddhi Idnani, and Sonia Bal, the film is produced by Vipul Shah.
