I consult with a psychiatrist after Rishi Kapoor’s death: Neetu Kapoor

Digital Desk: Actress Neetu Kapoor has revealed that she was “always the stronger one” in her marriage to late actor Rishi Kapoor. In a new interview, Neetu said that if anything happened in their lives before, it was always her who would give Rishi Kapoor strength. Neetu also admitted to seeing a psychiatrist after Rishi’s death. She, however, says that she stopped going after realising that her doctor was telling her to do things she already knew.

Rishi Kapoor passed away on April 30, 2020, following a two-year battle with leukaemia at 67. Besharam, a 2013 action comedy, was Neetu’s last film. Her son, actor Ranbir Kapoor, and Rishi Kapoor appeared in the film. Notably, her next appearance will be in Dharma Productions’ JugJugg Jeeyo. Moreover, Neetu has appeared on several reality shows since Rishi’s death.

Neetu stated in an interview with Health Shots, “You know, life toughens you up. When you have ups and downs. And when we’re going through a rough patch, we think it’s the end of the world. But I believe that now is the best time because God is strengthening you to deal with whatever comes your way. I’ve been through a lot in my life, and perhaps that’s what’s made me strong enough to deal with any situation. I was more powerful than my husband. If anything were to happen in our lives, I would give him that strength. I was always the more powerful one.”

In a piece of advice to other women who are going through a difficult time, Neetu said, “Whatever your feelings are, whatever your problem is, you must act. Consult a psychiatrist if you are experiencing mental health issues. I saw a psychiatrist. I used to consult a doctor after my husband (left), but then I told myself I was stronger than what the doctor said. When the doctor told me to do things I already knew, I thought to myself, ‘Why am I not doing these myself?’ So I stopped going to the doctor and dealt with my missing him’ and ‘feeling low’ feelings within myself, building myself up.”

Raj Mehta’s JugJugg Jeeyo also stars Anil Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, Maniesh Paul, and Prajakta Kohli. Anil plays Neetu’s husband in the film. The film is set to be released on June 24.
